I
o Culture of Excellence or Service with a “WOW”!
In the past couple of years especially, Yoder’s has been about doing more with less. We are focused and very serious about the operations of our business. All of us believe in hard work and putting the extra effort in to make things happen. I am so proud of all of our people! Here is the reason why. I get many phone calls a year that tell us that we have put together the very best team of people. What I really know is that God has blessed us with a team of incredible hires and people that are naturally excellent and want to continuously improve themselves and the people around them. All of you guys saw my many hiring flunks. Ussually they do not last too long around here, That is a good sign you know! The only explanation for being able to have great people like Jason Dyar (the latest example) to walk in our doors is God’s Grace. I could go on and on to mention those who do more with less and who go the extra mile for our clients. What we all have to understand is that most all of our clients are also our peer's clients so what each one of us does affects all of us. Where else could you have a chance to work with a Larry, Karol, Wiley, Barry, Danny, Lon, Russel, Tosha, Lori, Heather, Matt, Patrick, Truman, George, Barcus, Trisha, Mike, J.D. Jamie, Tim, Roger, Chad, Maurice, Travis. I could go on and on! If I didn’t name you It would just take too long. Seriously, We have Wally, Brandon, Don, Buddy, Farnsworth, Jeremy, Petie, Roger, Jenie, Keith, Brian, Stoney all on the front lines making a difference. If you get taken advantage of, understand that is GREAT advertisement. Take the time to make a “WOW”. It is huge not only for this time in the economy but I want to be a part of a company that is great! The biggest enemy of great is good. Good is not good enough! It takes little effort to make the good great and the reward is tremendous! We have but 2 choices: We can win by being more ordinary, more standard, and cheaper or we can win by being faster, more excellent, and more personal.
o Culture of Change
To stay excellent there must be a culture of change in a company! Yoder’s is ever evolving! If we want to stay ahead of our competition, we must continually change and keep them guessing. Others can copy our our pricing, technology, website, shipping, structure, but they can not copy our people, our culture or our service. And they will not be able to evolve as fast as we are as long as embracing constant change is a part of our culture. If you are a manager you need to ask yourself the question: How am I empowering my direct reports to drive change. Would your department be more successful if your employees were more obedient or lets consider for a minute if we would be more successful if your employees were more artistic, motivated, connected, aware, passionate and real. As employees, Will your job advance if you could figure out a better way of following your Boss’ instructions. I think not! We need to take risks! Our best change agents are the people with the best ideas; and those people are on the front lines! We must never loose our sense of urgency in making improvements.
Ps. I had a great time this morning! Thanks for being a gracious crowd!
